Lee Roy Selmon's life story blends family football scholarships and community service. He is the youngest child of Lucious Selmon, and Jessie Selmon. They took care of him at the farm they owned in Eufala. The Selmons were also among the three brothers who played for Oklahoma in football. The three brothers all made All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards and Lombardi Awards. He was the top lineman for across the country. For the three seasons that Roy was on the field, Oklahoma won two National Championships. In 1975, he was awarded his third scholarship and was recognized as a National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon earned his diploma in education. Lee Roy's fourth service consisted of ten hours a week in volunteer work during the college. Then he settled in Tampa after graduation, and played with the Buccaneers for nine years and made three times all-pro. The business venture he started began. By 1988 he had become an Account Relations Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked in these organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It was the Junior Chamber of Commerce honored Lee Roy in 1982 for being among the top 10 youths from the United States. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265lbs when he played college football.
